| The Department of Political Science and Public Administration offers an education that examines political and administrative phenomena (two closely related fields) from a scientific perspective. Students enrolled in this program acquire the knowledge and skills required by managers in public institutions and the private sector, and they develop a scientific understanding of economic, social, political, and administrative issues. The department consists of four main academic divisions: Political Science and Social Sciences, Administrative Sciences, Urbanization and Environmental Issues, and Legal Sciences. Courses and other academic activities are designed to enable students to specialize in these fields through a broad and comprehensive curriculum. |
| Among the core courses offered by the department are Political Science, History of Political Thought, Turkish Political Life, Global Governance and Politics, Theories of Democracy, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Administrative Sciences, Public Policy and Management, History of Turkish Administration, Comparative Public Administration, Public Personnel System, Public Finance, Urban History, Urbanization Policies, Local Governments, and Environmental Policy. Additionally, courses such as Economics, International Economics, Sociology, Criminal Law, Law of Obligations, Labor and Social Security Law, Global Energy Policies, History of Civilization, Research Methods and Ethics, and Gender Equality are included in the curriculum. Twenty-five percent of the curriculum consists of elective courses, which can be taken starting from the fifth semester. |
| A degree in Political Science and Public Administration provides graduates with diverse career opportunities. Graduates may pursue careers in various fields within public institutions and the private sector. Alumni of the department can work as specialists or administrators in the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, ministries, independent regulatory and supervisory agencies, high judicial bodies, municipalities, universities, professional organizations with public status, banks, non-governmental organizations, political parties, media organizations, and various sectors of the private industry. Graduates may also pursue academic careers by obtaining postgraduate degrees in different disciplines within the social sciences. |
